ASAP told me that the balls in their DZR valves are also made from DZR. For this reason they recommend them in preference to their bronze valves which only have plated brass balls, as you say.There is evidence that the ball and stem in some DZR and bronze valves are (plated) brass but even these seem to make it for more than 4-5 years.
Not the case if you buy in the UK where they are priced at a similar level to Marelon which is substantially more expensive than DZR.

I think that is what their website indicates
Ball material: CW602N UNI EN 12165/98 chrome plated
CW602N is DZR I believe
Which is why the statement posted above that their valves have a life expectancy of 4-5 years takes some believing. I shall quiz them on Friday at the show.
