Seacocks again

Thanks for the replies to my recent enquiry re seacocks.
As suggested ASAP Supplies stock DZR as recommended.

The through hull fittings could also be in need of changing, or be reluctant to let the old gate valve come off.
Can I safely assume, and this may sound obvious, but are the through hull fittings, which are also BSP, the same size as the fitted seacock, or could there possibly be some complicated stepping up or down of sizes.
ie: A 1" seacock on to a 1" through hull fitting.

Yes a 1" valve should fit a 1" skin fitting. 1" is the BSP thread size.

Its the thread that would be on the outside of a 1" bore pipe which has an outside diameter of 1 3/8"

I would be surprised if the gate valve failed to unscrew. On mine the 22yo ones come undone fairly easily with a medium sized stillson type wrench.

When I changed one recently (old one came off easily) I used pipe threadlock because easier than PTFE tape in the confined location. I'll let you know in about 30yrs if it's still easy to undo. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
