Have just fitted a new d130 volvo penta engine into my colvic watson 23ft motor sailor. The engine and vetus water lock are below the water line. After running the engine twice on each occaision sea water entered the engine, so I fitted a new water intake with a longer loop extending above the waterline. this resolved the initial problem but am concerned that this may not be a permanent solution, what would be the best solution

You almost certainly need an anti syphon valve in the seawater outlet between the heat exchanger and where the water is injected into the exhaust. See page 168 of the Vetus catalogue www.vetus.com for details.

Hey, there's an echo in here!

Dear Mike, hope you sort the problem, but it is not considered polite to post the same question on multiple fora. No problem, I can see you are a newbie, just a friendly reminder of our guidelanes.
