Sea Ray Sundancer 260

A lot of doom and gloom about the boat above. So I will add that its likely to need new batteries as well.

But, they are a great boat, lots of space for the length and all mod cons. Buy it at the right price and you will love it.

I fully agree, there will be a period of sorting niggles where bits have forgotten how to work they've been idle so long, but once it's in regular use and had some TLC it'll be as good as any other.

Cheers fellas, as it happens my existing boat probably needs manifolds and risers checked...is it easy to diy it? Do they have to be replaced? How much?

Yes, I'm guessing batteries on the 260 could be in trouble...I could go and get it started on a jump, might do that tomorrow and see what happens?

Lastly, what sort of performance is it likely to do? It's not the biggest engine is it, also Bravo 2 not sure if they offer better performance over dual props?

The exhaust on that Sea Ray doesn't look too bad but I guess you need to remove it and check since they rot from the inside out. Fairly easy DIY but there isn't much space to work.
Probably then just a case of cleaning it all and replacing the gaskets.
Mine has the same engine and drive and I get a smidge over 30 knots flat out and cruise at about 23/24 knots (4000rpm).
It uses just under 10 gallons an hour at cruise.
Hope this is useful.

Cheers Adey, thanks heaps. I'm warming to the boat but it's also a bit scary given it's been sitting around so long..so I'm going over Monday to start it with Muffs on the outdriver, broker is charging batteries...anything I should look for when running it? Was going to run it for a good 15 mins or so.

Oh, and the bimini needs completely replacing anyone know who could do that for us? and a rough cost?

Regards,
T

Went to see the 7.4 one...no CE, or rather they had done it and it needed to be plated up, that scared me.

Still on the lookout, also now the Chris Craft 25 Express or Crowne 26 looks nice anyone know anything about these two? Both 96/97 ish.

Cheers
T

Reference the bimini, you could try www.tecsew.co.uk depends on where the boat is, as the covers would have to be measured and fitted. One option is to have a frame added for a rear canopy giving much more usable room within the boat.
