My boat is in Bangor Marina. If you mention BJ Marine to other boat owners, you get a very negetive reaction. Is this deservesd?

back on point...315 is a good boat. Friend of mine has one and will no doubt be along to give you some proper feedback having owned his since new in 2004. Seems to pack a lot in, especially having the dinette. Ian has a single Kad 44 which goes well.

Build quality is good (i also had a Sea Ray previously)

This post has started badly and just got worse.

Shame on you Jimmy for your potty mind.

Anyway, in an attempt to be a little constructive, the 315 is not a bad boat. Searay build better 'sea boats' than your average US marque but the 315 is still very light at the bow, and being a single engine can be interesting to manouver if you have a cross wind.

Still, build quality is good and with KAD44 or KAD300 they dont hang around and wont burn too much of the green stuff either.

You will have to like open plan, and if you want to overnight with mates dont expect too much privacy, but the cockpit is good for day trips and its quite good fun to drive. Not a terribly deep V, so you will; have to back off fairly early but most boaters have gone to the pub by then anyway so it wont bother the majority.

Hope that helps.

Overdraught's friend here.

As already said, I've owned my 315 since new in 2004. Plus points good build quality (for a US boat), superb accommodation for that size boat, good seakeeping and great on fuel. The main problem has been corrosion of the windscreen surround, probably down to the reaction between the stainless camel backs and the alloy windscreen surround.

The performance isn't blinding with the single KAD44 but it will push past 30kts and will easily cruise at 26kts. It returns about 5.5gph at 23kts so cheap to run!

Searay have been trying for years to take the 280/315 out of production but have yet to come up with a replacement for it. The 290 tried and failed.

PM me if you want to know more...

Ian.

With the open plan layout think i would consider a S28 , separate aft bedroom and great hull , recent poster suggested
there was S28 in mint condition ( as new ) for sale in Ireland , worth a look maybe if near you /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif , good luck.

From my experience i view the s28 as an very good boat,
very good hull , and a good track record from members of
the forum , its also a matter of choice re accomodation ,
i consider a layout incorporating separate aft bedroom and
converting V much more desirable , but its a personal choice.
just checked the previous post the S28 its for sale in N.Ireland. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
