Sea Cities BBC 2 Thursdays....didn't know it was on until yesterday but found it on iPlayer. Interesting programme with the first episode covering Plymouth and all things maritime (the clue is in the title I guess). There was a piece on the refurbishment of the Project 31 by Princess....worth a watch :)

If they bought this class of boat up to 2016 standards ...would it sell ...and if not, why not ?

but for mercys sake no outdrives. :)

Also at Düsseldorf looking very smart. Now fitted with single Volvo out drive.

My Father and I once owned the second Project 31 ever built. Blue hull. I believe only the first three had blue hulls before they went to white. Built in 1966. Engined were Perkins 4107 on Enfield out drives. Twin bilge keel could take the mud.
Boat was ( and probably still is ) called Keltie. Bought from a guy on the River Ouse we transported her down to Milford Haven. Her final resting place was Angle Bay - behind the lifeboat station. Saw her there about three years ago looking very sorry for herself. She was up for sale. Where is she now?

That's the bit I don't get, at LIBS when I saw her I was told that a single was fitted and the dash board confirmed it looking like this

Then I see this on TV and you tube

Looks like she's been re engined, perhaps oldgit is right and these out drives really don't last :p

Re: Curious... Project 31

She looked fabulous at LIBS would in interesting to know how much a new one would cost as a retro boat, I guess the one at LIBS would be far to expensive but if made en masse again?
An old chap used to moor one of these next to me in Bristol, he would've loved to have seen this refurb.

Re: Curious... Project 31

The main criticism of the boat and the subsequent P32 ,was that it was simply too narrow for use offshore.
Wonder if it could be a player on the burgeoning canal boat market as a rival to some of those hideous tin slug clones that infest our canal system.
An ideal boat for the Thames and inland waterways niche market but not of much interest to the much wider and more lucrative market obsessed with speed and precious little else.
Am well aware of tales of these boats doing 25 knots and crossing oceans...well almost.
