Sorry, probably basic schoolboy question..

Do weather forecast apps (I use XC Weather), take into account local sea breezes?

My boat is really only happy >10 knots, Summer forecasts are usually less- but is it still worth going out, in hope they’ll be stronger local conditions? Or if you select a coastal location does the app take into account local sea breezes anyway?

Thanks :)

Sometimes mentions the possibility, but it's often too local and unpredictable to forecast accurately.

Look for small fluffy clouds building a couple of miles inland by around 10.30 -11.30am. that means the heating land is creating updraughts which draw the air in off the cooler sea. Not infallible but usually a pointer in settled weather. Sea breezes often establish around 11.00 - 12.00, and start to fail around 4.00pm as the sun sinks lower. Then there is the more complex subject of modified sea breezes..... !

With this heat we'll likely get a sea breeze tomorrow some time between 12:00 and 14:00 on the Norfolk Broads probabley from the North east. That's not normally forecast but this time it coincides with the wind switch from westerly over the top to a south easterly. So for a change we shouldn't get the dead time when general wind fights the sea breeze.
