Scuttlebutt Falmouth?/Fowey?/Plymouth? weekend - Spring

Well Russell... Seeing as (during our chat over breakfast at Mylor last week) you asked me not to even think about organising any kind of plan for the Friday night in Falmouth I can confirm that I definitely don't have a landlord mate with a pub right next to a suitable dinghy landing spot that will not have a live 70s band on that night and who has not offered us a free barrel of ale before we inevitably don't end up fighting our way to the bar through the endless emmets and stoodents at the Chain Locker later. :-)

Oh... And has anyone been told not to think about not designing any kind of polo shirt not embroidered with no kind of suitable logo whatsoever for the trip at all?

I don't have anything in mind of course... :-)

Bugger, does this mean that we will not have to sail further west from Dartmouth (after trip from Solent planned for Tuesday/Wednesday) for Friday night so that we cannot go to the best pub in Falmouth :encouragement: (IMHO based on a few, errm, lively, visits a good number of years ago - hope the landlord has changed since then!!! :o) on the Friday night?

I assume you are talking about the Locker... Actually I'm led to believe that the new chap running it has a bit of an attitude and that the place is not what it used to be by a long shot but that's just what my mates say... I've not been in there this week so cannot confirm or deny. The location prob means that he'll always have trade so maybe food quality and customer service isn't that important. Anyway, that's what the general consensus seems to be. I might nip in there tomorrow and scope it out. I suppose as long as we can get served palatable beverages and have somewhere to loiter as a group outside we'll be happy enough. The Front Bar opposite is always a much better pint anyway... So many awards for quality and huge range of craft beers available that every day is like an ale festival :-)

I thought we'd prob start at one end of the town and take a leisurely and completely unorganized tour through to end up in the quay area anyway. :-)

The chain locker definaty isn't what it was. If Fran and Jenny leave that's it I feel.
Used to frequent this place on many occasion but not so lately. The soul has gone if you understand what I mean.

A buch of us had a pint in there yesterday with the lovely Fran... Had 4 in 'The Oddies' though... Much nicer :-)

Whoever is not organising this, could you add me to the list of those not coming to any organised gathering? We launch in Torpoint on or about 17 May, then to Calstock for a few days to catch up with the lunatics we met there last year.

Yacht 'Saebryht', 10m, two on board.

Oh, and is anyone who knows anything about electronic gadgets (AIS, navtext etc) who could tell me what should be attached to what aerial, able to have a look at my gear and advise? I am 30 yrs out of date and have always sailed without electric gadgets, then bought a fully loaded boat. I don't have a clue how to use them!

We're from the East coast.

Damn. The forum software only allows 20 Smileys, and now I've peaked. Any more and you don't get the :encouragement: badge.

I've liaised with Gallants regarding the buffet, and details will follow soon.

Falmouth End: KevO has a pub or two in mind to meet at on Friday night. Maybe a kebab house too, if they have them in Falmouth.

Plymouth End: No idea. You'll have to take responsibility for that yourselves.

Both ends: the plan is that you make your own plan to arrive in Fowey before the buffet starts.

Everyone: if you don't have :encouragement: or 'details received' alongside your name in Post #1 I assume you're not coming and will delete you soon. If you are coming please complete the form at http://scuttlebutt.the-edens.org.uk/

Solent,
for those coming from the solent, do we wish to meet up and work out the plan to falmouth. i will be setting off from Poole.

As of this morning we have 18 boats and 45 crew.

As of discussion in the pub last night, plus one more :)

Chris and I (and possibly Steph, haven't phoned her yet) are planning to spend the preceding week in the Channel Islands, then join the festivities in Fowey before completing the triangle back to the Solent. We'll probably cross from Guernsey to Salcombe or Plymouth on the Friday, then pop along to Fowey the following day.

Russ,
silly questions i know.

I'm only arranging berthing on Saturday night. If people want to get there earlier and/or stay later you'll have to make your own arrangements.
