PS: Hope Snark gets in okay after what must have been a long and wet day at sea.[/QUOTE]
Left Alderney with f4 forecast , put a reef in the main just in case (as you do). Found F3 so rolled out a full Genoa. Then got a weather warning "strong winds imminent". Discovered my roller reeling was jammed. Too late to do anything about it and was caught just off the Casquettes separation zone unable to manoeuvre well or see very far. Couldn't raise anyone on vhf until a passing vessel re-broadcast my plight. By the time I was clear of the potential danger zone, the wind had abated but it was too rough to go on the foredeck. Eventually got in with de powered sails and my faithful 1GM10 around 11.30 last night. Found and fixed the problem in 20 minutes in Yarmouth, today, but it would have been impossible at sea. Had it not been so rough, I could have at least dropped the furshlugginer beast. See you all next year!
