7 largish outboard motors with an estimated value of 100K swiped from 1 yard in Poole in 1 night http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=14235

Police suspect a gang doing a tour of not just Poole but other areas also so take care and be vigilant

Martin

Makes my rant about my stolen £20 bike seem a bit thin... Dunnit?

TV last night - - scrotes attack farm and when seen they try to run down the farmers mother with a transit van, she was hit and suffered leg and hip damage. The young farmer uses his shotgun to try to blow out the vans tyres. Attacker drives off and is arrested 5 miles away. Farmer and mother held overnight in cells with talk of charges of attempted murder. Am I missing something here?

Speaking to local Plod a few weeks ago ref stuff knicked in Wales
It seems there are organised Gangs eminating from Eastern Europe
Rumania/Lithuania, you know, those sort of places
Friggen really organised Gits
They cleaned out a place on Anglesey recently
Got the secure remote key gadgett and drove through a barrier and decimated a quite remote Marina / Harbour adjacent to a Campsight
The 'booty' is then loaded into a waiting bunch of vehicles and trucks and is fecked off rapid to the eastern block places aforementioned
Plod do catch the 'on the scene' towrags from time to time it seems
'But they know northing, barcelona etc'
Neither do the truck drivers it seems:rolleyes:
So, Mr Big in 'Nicksilvainier' doesn't get done!
It is quite organised and rife apparently

Yes our local marine police are saying exactly the same.

Rockley Boatyard is at the end of a caravan site. The scrotes apparently gained access not by the main gate but by moving a couple of caravans at the far end of the yard, removing some bushes cutting through the fence then driving their vehicles in. They new exactly what they were about. Also on the night the normal site security guard was away so the site had an agency security guard on duty? which to me seems very cosy.

Our club had a presentation recently from the marine section of the police where it was stated that due to the low incidence of crime in and around the harbour police presence was to be reduced. Some of us made the point of value of crimes from boats etc being high value whereas reported land based crimes can generally be fairly low value albeit still distressing. Apparently its the amount of reported crimes that matters to the funding authorities nothing to do with value of thefts. Our local marine section said they wanted everything reported no matter how small to help their case. It seems to me that yet again bean counters have their priorities wrong unless that is they are just looking for anyway to cut costs which is probably more likely.

Are they not missing the point here, the reason there is low crime in your club is because of their presence in numbers?

Call me Dave has said that you can use reasonable force to defend your property BUT, shooting at a departing vehicle (or person) is not seen as reasonable force as they are already leaving, so no additional violence is needed. Different if they were rushing AT you & armed themselves, then you could justifiably claim to be in fear of your life & plead self-defence.

If it came to charges (pretty unlikely) then a jury will almost certainly acquit.

It isnt just outboards and marine stuff that is going the organised routes , over the last couple of days tree surgeons over Chichester - Littlehampton way are being specifically targetted and their specialist tools, equipment £££ saws etc all cleared out of their yards, the neighbours wife came face to face with the 'barstewards' as they tried to access his kit yesterday....... scarpered in a newish silver pick up with partial reg ?k10 ???. I understand they hit another today in broad daylight. ! plod ware and appharently they use thomson directory to source victims !

May be worth seeing if the new PCC has any comment? http://www.dorset.pcc.police.uk/Home.aspx. He's planning on setting up local surgeries too which would be a good opportunity to point out the importance of the marine industry in Dorset. I'm going to try and get one to talk about the ridiculous state of speed limits/ cameras and traffic planning in Bournemouth and Poole.

Good news.

The engines have been recovered from a lock up in Lincoln although not yet repatriated to their rightful owners. Two of the barstewards have been caught so lets hope their punishment is fitting or at least tortured to find out who their accomplices are. Hopefully the insurance will pay to have the engines reinstated back on the boats.

Hopefully (apart from the trauma) a good outcome for the owners
