Hi

We have to remove the back windows (aft cabin) in our Birchwood 33. Some of the screws are going to need drilling out and we need to source some replacements before we can go ahead. So far are having no luck, have tried a couple of local places and have spoken to 'Sea-Screw' They have similar but not the right size. If we can't find any the same we are going to have to drill out the hole to fit larger screws in, but obviously would be better and easier if we could find a supplier. The windows have the name 'Marsh Walters, 35, Freeth Street Birmingham' printed on them. They don't appear to be there anymore (the windows could be 25 years old!!!)

My question is: Does anyone know of any suppliers who may be likely to have what we are after?

Cheers.

The one is a slot head 4.5mm diameter 8mm length (excluding the head), diameter of actual head is 6mm - and the other that screws into it is a 3.5mm countersunk 10mm long (again excl the head) . Stainless steel.

The slot head screw has an internal thread for the other screw to screw into. (bit difficult to explain!!)

Hope this makes sense

Sea screw didn't have the right size.

From what your describing it sounds as if you have a threaded insert that goes into the cabin sides and a machine screw that screws into that.....am I right?

Thank you for the link, have tried it, but it is the website for 'Sea-Screw'. They have got them but they are slightly larger. If we cannot find the correct size I think we will have to get these and make adjusments accordingly.

Just to say thank you for your replies. Knowing they were called 'Interscrews' has helped, have found a few more companies to try, Avon Stainless Fastenings, Hadlow Marine and Seals + Direct. Will phone them tomorrow.

Cheers

Hi there,

I replaced all the windows on my '33' and think I still have a bag of the original screws lying around. Some were knackered in removal, some are okay.

I take it you've been trying to seal the sliding windows at the side of the boat. I gave up and replaced them.

How do we get in touch?
