Ever tried phoning a Screwfix Trade Counter? I wanted to know if the local one had the item I needed in stock and a phone call seemed preferable to a 20 mile drive.

No phone numbers for branches were on their website so I phoned their helpline. Their advice: "We don't have the phone numbers to give out. Your best way is to go into the branch and they should be able to give you their phone number."

Eh?

PS I wonder how long it will be before the forum provides the number for their Seafield, Edinburgh, branch? !!!

yeh - its crazy, If you go into the store they will give you a card with No for that store.

Please be aware that currently the Trade Counter telephone numbers are not generally available to encourage customers to go into the Trade Counter itself and to limit the number of enquiries being received that could be dealt with in-store due to the staff resources that are available.

[/ QUOTE ]Not really - Someone has added the phone number to the site - something I feel everyone should do as that is how the site works, someone finds a number that is an alternative to "0870" numbers or a number that is not readily available and posts it to the site for every other user to look up. I have added several that are not "for public knowledge" - sod the tossers, make the numbers public.

Screwfix I think a trading in the 80's era.
Have they never heard of internet shopping, do they think customers know exactly what they want every time, no the truth is they just are under staffed and have not the staff to anser a phone !.
I ordered a part with Alladins Cave whom I had never delt with before and it was delivered 9.30 next day.
Thats service 2007 style.PS and they do have a phone with helpfull people!

I think their Web site is fairly good. Freefax, Freephone, Store map and addresses, but sadly no store phone numbers.

going to have to disagree with you on this one

I use screwfix a lot - I can order at 6.00pm and get at 10 am next day - FOC if over £45, if I am not happy with goods (for whatever reason) I simply phone up & items are uplifted FOC.

I use the new trade counters as well and would say they are fully staffed (but not that clued up ).

IMHO of course !!
