Screw in screw

I am looking to rebuild an "axis" for a sheave. I wonder if it would be possible to buy a (ss) screw (male) that threads into a smooth bar with a (female) thread inside it, to fit.

I have no idea how this might be called.

Does anyone have any clue, here?

Such a thing is readily available from fastener suppliers. Commonly called a sex bolt (for obvious reasons) but also barrel bolt, Chicago screw, post and screw. They come with various length barrels ( the female end) so you can choose one to fit the sheave correctly.
