Screw down ball valves completely?

Interesting. Now you say it I think that happened to ball valve which was the outlet for my washing machine. I'm not doing away with that skin fitting altogether but it was leaking. No I think of it, it probably was that joint after the ball. I didn't hang around to check thoroughly. It just needed to go.

Not stainless steel, not galvanised and not brass. An ordinary plumbing fitting that will corrode away and rust like mad if subject to fresh/salt water being run through it.

No it's the same as the valves. Same brand.
