In a conversation about the many yachts wrecked by irma in the Caribbean, much conjecture about the salvageable items, engines, stern gear winches and any stainless fittings. Of course, now the property of insurance companies who would want to get rid of the hulls as well. Now there is a possible recycling route: (My cut and paste won't work) google fiberline composites, they can turn it into a component of cement. So if the machinery could be on site, yachts could be dismantled and the hulls put through a shredder, leaving bulk material which is easier to transport. Maybe even use it in a local rebuilding programme.

..add 'recycle grp' to your search

The neat thing would be to recycle the hulls into cement, and use the cement in houses designed to be hurricane proof.

It's the sort of thing that Branson and Gates ought to support.

As the owner of a 1977 AWB I get a bit worried when people start talking about grinding up old boats!
Goodness why? There are thousands of them littering boat yards and creeks all over the planet. About time we sorted that mess out.
