I know I will be in trouble for drawing people's attention to the photo's featured on the website showing the terrible conditions one has to endure when one sails in Scotland but:

Guess what I was doing this last weekend?

Actually I was supposed to be helping on the committee boat but they ended up with lots of people and a boat was short of crew so I jumped from committee boat to competitor and mainsailed trimmed and helped gybe spinnakers for three races.

Results:

Three races.

Three firsts

For which I claim no credit at all - the rest of the crew seemed to know what they were doing and I just did what I was told.

And don't think that we took it that seriously: the skipper raced the entire afternoon with a small whisky and water wedged by the helm. Lunch consisted of lager or gin and tonic with sandwiches...

looks like you had more wind than I did. Over 3 days from Fri-Sun
Ardrossan to Kames...Motored
Kames to Ardrossan...... Motored
Ardrossan to Brodick....30 mins with spinnaker then motored
Brodick to Ardrossan....Motored.

Not complaining to much though, there was hardly a cloud in the sky the whole weekend.

Oh yes, I had a terrible sail from Scotland to the Isle of Man recently...just terrible...

And waking up in Loch Ryan, worst morning ever...

Agree fantastic sunshine - not a cloud all weekend. We had better luck wind wise than you - went to Tighnabruich via the west side of Bute and, by waiting on anchor whilst the wind filled, made it most of they way there and back under sail, touching 7 knots boat speed at (rare) times.

As wells the IRC boys, there seemed to be another race round the bottom of Bute. We sailed near them for a bit - but then saved a few hours by being able to motor the 500m into the new wind whilst the racers were parked up. One boat broke free and followed us up with the kite up (but not quite catching ;-) leaving the rest sunbathing rather than racing.

Glad to hear that the leading boat wasn't taking it too seriously as I got myself very slightly involved with the back of the field on the first lap of the Sunday afternoon race as I was having a gentle sail from Kip up towards the Holy Loch.

I was taking it easy having an afternoon siesta in Kip Marina on Sunday afternoon, waiting to help put all thr gear away when the ribs came in with the marker buoys. I had a very easy Sunday morning reading the paper and pottering around and buying some pilot books for our summer cruise.

It was a lovely week-end.

It was horrible in the Sound of Jura .. flat calm for at least 48 hours, and no clouds to hide the sun.

It was horrible all last week while we went Arisaig Lochinver Stornoway Canna and points in between.

In fact it was so horrible that due to engine trouble we had to leave the boat in canna and get the ferry back. See pic below for horribleness in canna.

Looks terrible. How did you cope without hundreds of other yachts, manky brown water, 'shore side facilities' and an oil refinery?

Were you able to find some where clean to get your anchor down or are those bloody new Canna moorings as badly placed as has been reported?
