you can't officially race with starters and so on. But you can try and sail faster than the others. I call it grudge sailing. One prob with grudge sailing is that it gets a bit boring if a few cock up the start, or their boat is a bit of a dog or whatever. So, they are allowed to rejoin the race and still have a laugh when they engine on and whizz up again to no further than the leader IF they put up a little flag or praps wear a red tshirt. Eventually everyone wears red t-shirt and you still have a "fleet" towards the end.
