later this year I intend to bring my 50 footer into the irish sea via the point of air at the N/E corner of the I.O.M. I have been told to sail quite close in on the way around the point of air into Ramsey Bay can any one offer advice on this .

Tides around the Point of Ayre are strong when we locals round it we go as close as 20 to 30 ft from the northern piont.
giving the point too wide a berth leaves you in strong counter tides and at risk of joining the - seaguls standing on the Bahama bank.
