HWMBO and I have decided to go to Scotland over New Year. I know we have left it a bit late before you say anything...

Anyway without soundy cheesy and I am sure this will. I would like to stay in a castle on a beach.....or something like that anyway.

We will be flying up and will hire a car, so who can recommend somewhere special or different to stay...must be near sea though.

Looking forward to suggestions!

How do you spell "woosie" ? Get your oilies on and sail up there - you'll miss Hogmanay tho !

a pragmatist is a sailor who now believes it will _always_ rain

Try Dornoch.. fab beach .. careful tho.. will be galloping on it if weather ok! Good hotels too.. Try Dornoch Castle Hotel

Fly sleazy jet direct to Inverness and get a car.. Dornoch is approx 30 odd miles north

For sight seeing if you must see harbour go even further north to Helmsdale or try driving to Lairg past the Kyles of Sutherland...

PM me if you want more local info..

You might try Glengary Castle

Not on a beach but gardens run down to Loch Oich

Fly to Inverness and follow Cal Can

Dont forget to ask about the ghost

Have a look at the VisitScotland website

http://www.visitscotland.com/accommodation/

There you will find information on various castles where you can stay.

Please let us know how you get on.
