wow! what a fantastic weekend of weather. I can't remember a weekend this good in terms of sun and wind throughout the whole of last year. There's been lots going on in Guernsey this weekend with a round of the Brtish Hill Climb championship taking place on Saturday and the Motorsport themed 'Seafront Sunday' yesterday. I think there's 8 Seafront Sundays across the summer when the main road along the front in St. Peter Port running past Victoria Marina is closed and pedestrianised. There's a different theme each time.
With the evening tides we decided it was the ideal opportunity to a take a first trip to Sark in our little boat. Being only a 17 footer I've been a bit hesitant to go too far in the past especially with the wife and kids on board. But with the calm waters, sunny weather, appropriate saftey precautions and plenty of other boat around it was now or never.
Only had a few hours to spare so the plan was to head past herm, through the Goulliot Passage and stay on the west side of the island, explore some bays and find somewhere to swim.
Here's the approach to the Goulliot Passage, the water was pretty lively with a strong current pushing against us:

through the other side:

we anchored in La Grande Greve:

looking back with guernsey in the distance:

Had a suprisingly nice swim. what a difference having some sun on you makes!

Cheers,
Rich.
