Arriving at St Mary's on Monday afternoon by helicopter and staying at Tregartens Hotel. They serve alcohol I believe.
Will look out for you as we visit the islands on the local ferry.
Sailed around there and back to Milford Haven with my son in his Contessa 32 a couple of years ago - stunning. My wife wants more luxury for her visit! Ho hum.
Will be there ealy June on the way to Spain Pete.
Question, is there anwhere handy to dry out, fin keel just to get a look at the bottom, been before but can only think of the ferry quay wall.
It,s a bit difficult here in Waterford to find a decent sheltered spot with enough water. I don,t want to lift out as I want to paint the topsides etc when we get South with more reliable weather. Be glad of your advice. Bill.
The only place to dry out if you do not have legs is alongside the quay at St Mary's. There is power and water at these alongside berths and good ladders for getting up the wall. There is a bit of a premium on the price for staying there though.
The bottom is sand but is a bit scoured in places with the odd boulder. be sure to rig to stop her from falling over, seen boats on their side too often to count.
On the plus side it is very handy for the 'Mermaid', see you in June for a pint then?
I will have a word with the Tresco harbourmaster to see if he could let you go alongside to check things over one low tide, I don't see why it couldn't be done at Old Grimsby quay which is not as busy as the other quays. Having said that they are all used at some point by all the tripper boats which are working for a living and get a bit disgruntled by boats blocking their access.
The weather forecast for the Scillies next week looks awful - too late as we are booked and paid for. Is it really going to pour with rain and 30plus mph winds? Will this affect the running of the inter-island ferries? Might pack a yellow jacket /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Yeah the outlook is not great is it, reckon you picked the wrong week its fantastic now and I know its a long way off but looks to improve again from next weekend. The pleasure boats will be doing trips as normal, it would need to be quite horrible before they do nothing at all.
BTW plenty of alchohol up at Treggies unless all the Gig rowers drink it his weekend. Be sure to pop in our shop at the bottom of garrison lane, the one with all the shipwreck pictures.

It's the Pilot Gig festival this weekend, so I dare say there will be rather a lot of people to share a pint with. I was on the phone to Dad this morning as he was picking his way past the docks at Pz, he said he couldn't move for Pilot Gigs and burly men.
