Helping a chap bring his Albin Vega ( 27' sloop ) from Scheveningen to Suffolk Yacht Harbour this weekend. He's the skipper but as I don't know the chap that well I'm doing as much passage planning as I can for my own peace of mind. Do you have any advice for the timing and route. I am using the North sea pilot as my guide but would appreciate any words of wisdom from anyone that has done the trip.

Re: Scheveningham to Harwich

Last year went from Harwich to Ijmuiden and came back Den Helder to Harwich.

Wasn't skipper but we took the tide up the Suffolk coast to just past Orford before turning out to sea with the aim of giving some distance to a shiping lane roundabout (can't remember where though!).

As for timing we planned to cross the busiest areas of shipping in day light which we did and make approach to Holland in last of dark to enter in morning light but made better time and ended up arriving in Imuiden in dark!

Scheveningen is far enough south to cross the DWR south of the roundabout. Unfortunately we will be crossing it during the few hours of darkness this time of year /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif You can see the B*****s but distance off is not so easy to judge.
