My son and a mate are bringing mate's Westerly Discuss (33ft) back from Holland on Saturday. Weather forcast per Windfinder is OK but winds starts off westerly and then moves round south, maybe SW.

They will leave around 0200, it is 110 miles and boat will do at least 5.5 knots into wind and tide. I suspect they will head a bit south so they are not going directly into wind and waves.

As approach to Harwich will be around 0000hrs and wind is forcast SW and tide will be flooding South which route is best into Harwich? I would assume N.Galloper, S. Inner Gabbard, S Shipwash and follow the chanel in.

Any comments or tips are welcomed. Thanks.

Yep, that would be my choice.... once through S Shipwash tell 'em to keep a good eye out for Cork Sands Beacon.... and to ignore the Cork Sands Yacht Beacon.... its so poorly lit that its virtually invisible until you are right on it against the shore lights of Felixstowe... IMHO one of the worst marks on the whole east coast

Thanks to Morgana and sailorman for the information. They left Scheveningen at 0400 and they were just approaching Felixstowe so expect to be in either Harwich or Shotley after midnight. However they are also debating whether to go to Levington as one of them has to be in Ipswich at 0800!!

They have made good time considering they had a strong headwind most of the way, force 4/5, occassionaly more. I am allways releived when this type of trip is over.

UPDATE. "Rainbow" berthed at Shotley at 0200 Sunday morning and will leave to go to Ramsholt around noon.
