They say a picture's worth a thousand words. Who does? Well, it's the thick people, mostly, those for whom intelligent discussion doesn't come easily, and those who can't express themselves very well, and especially those who couldn't write a thousand words. So please unsticky the pix thread or create new place for it. Bah humbug etc

When people stop looking at it I'll move it, until then it's there to stay /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It's getting on average 1,000 views a day, so it might be there a bit longer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Err, but they are posted by the boat owners who will have been given them without copyright restrictions- or they would not be posting them.

Get a bloomin' life & stop stressing about impropbable risks to others activities. By all means restrict your own life to hiding under a stone, but you have no authority to try & frighten others to hide next to you.

Bloomin ridiculous all these boat pics, what do you think?I couldnt give a toss now sod off and find your own raft /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Jeez! The Sun gets ten times the sales of any broadsheet. This is dumbing down writ large, and in this instance you're its architect and defender. Others -Beware the Stupid People. Tony Blair, G Snooks, and many many more.

I think you're in the wrong forum...Have you tried The Lounge? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

There's a serious aspect too - many hereabouts hav asked for urgent help and as top of the list they got it, fast. Your heavy use of stickies dramatically compromises this.

Separately, it is normal bb form to id yourself as moderator in username - eg diffrnt colour. Likewise tagline "my opinions not Ipc's" bit unlikely.

Finally, just a small point, the "emoticons" are fun, but lose you credibility. To others it will seem i'm arguing with a teenager. Well, not a teenager since you tag that you've been doing ipc pix "since 1999". Perhaps ditch that too- no promotion nor better offers for a decade isn't a great testimony...

love the readers boats pics - think the sticky is a good idea - and if i did disagree with it I would hope to be able to express my view without being rude and insulting ....

He is a photographer.... he already has the best job in the world. Personally I think your comment is uncalled for and arrogant. Some of us are quite happy with our place in life thank you.

Others requested it as a stickie, he just made it so.... kinda damned if he does and damned if he doesnt???

the problem doesnt lie in the ONE stickie, it lies in having two.... which tends to get a bit confusing and difficult to see what it is going on..

Hm, well, i'd hope you would too. But you don't seem very confident about it though? Re-read my earlier posts and try thinking more deeply about attacking my assault on the Stupid People. See? Some might get the wrong idea about you. Or the right one?

Heyho, "happy with your place", more loser talk.
One stickie is ok you say...but two "confusing"? Maybe some people can't handle advancement as it would be too much to find their new desk?

Cripes, and part of your reasoning was that poor quality threads at the top of the forum list detracted from it's value? Perhaps this one should be closed now, other than for the nugget of useful information imparted by awol?

I'll get me coat. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif *

* Smiley inserted to see if it really does take years off my age.

No, you miss the point, some of us dont have a desk.....

Its a tough life for Snooks... he flys around the world to sail in the latest new offeriengs at the manufacturers expense....

Me I, travel around meeting interesting folks and then takeing their pictures, which are then printed by papers like the Sunday times, or Der Spiegel... then I go home to my little house in the country and my dog, and in my spare time I go sailing on my yacht, or maybe in the winter skiiing at home in Canada....

Sorry, more Loser Talk! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Geez TCM, who pissed in your cornflakes this morning!

First off sorry you feel that way, but the interest in the readers boats has been a surprise, only after a day or two was it made a sticky. It was made because I had PM's asking me to make it so as well as the requests in the thread and subsequent thanks after it after it.

The second sticky is for the electronic content in this months magazine with over 1,000 views. This forum, as it's name suggests is Yachting Monthly's Scuttlebutt, therefore we like to promote the electronic content in places it will be seen. Many forum members don't go to the homepage so might not be aware of the new content so we use the forum.

The A after my in my name shows I'm admin, the only other people with an A after there name are also admin or work for IPC, Richard Shead for example. No other users have the A. I am not a mod on the forum, but I have the power to act if I have to, as I use the forum in my personal time.

I also like to have an opinion, which is mine and not that of yachting monthly, and I also like to make that clear.

As for my choice of profession, I travel around the world photographing boats, I've hung out of helicopters photographing Class 1 power boats, I sailed the Seychelles, Canada, Canaries and almost every country in Europe with a coastline, I work with some of the nicest people in the industry and spend the majority of my time on, in or around the water.

I work for Yachting Monthly, Motor Boats Monthly, Motor Boat and Yachting and Superyacht World, I have more than my boat's worth of camera gear to play with, I go sailing and get paid for it...so it's not a bad job to have.

My colleague Lester has been with the company over 25 years, I've been there 10, and it might come as a surprise, but I'm proud of that. I've had offers and I could go freelance, I choose not to. Show me another full time staff yachting photographer out there, as far as I know there are 3, and I'm one of them.

As for smilies, they've been around from before the world wide web, and I've used then for over 15 years, and they are there to be used in a form of communication that can often be misinterpreted (as I did your first post)

I hope that clarifies things

Skiing in canada and your own yacht... You are making the silly equation of profit and quality/value. Snooks did the same with proudly quoting a thousand hits. Populism rules eh? Sell off the libraries and give everyone a footie season ticket.

1. Yes sticky....but why can't he stick it at the bottom of the page.
2. I ski in canada and have my own boat...noot wrong with that. But with small kids sumat is gonna go.... shhucks thats the skiing gone then and once they get to Uni age I guess they will be after the boat as well.
3. Why are they posting pics of other peoples boats...can't work that one out.

Just a thought

gawd you're being a grumpy old git ain't ya? Far worse has been at the top of just about all the forums in their time ...

just be a "good lad" and shuv up a pic of yours and we can move on!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

IPC's not posting pictures of other people's boats - they're getting other people to post picture of their boat.
IPC wants to find out what boats are out there - about the most 'common' ones they'll then do boat reviews etc... in the hope that people will buy the magazine because it's got a review/boat test of 'their' boat.

"Not the Beaulieu but between Poole and Lulworth I snapped these. No idea who they are but maybe a forumite there somewhere?"

And when did the Navy start allowing you to own your own active minesweeper.
