Since the Henry Irving pilot book is so out of date, I wondered if this post might be useful.

There are two harbours, the Old Harbour, and the East Harbour. The pilot book says to enter the east harbour, however, there has since been a marina built in the Old Harbour, and this should be the entrance you take.

The visitors berths are located directly ahead as you enter the harbour, although it should be noted that there is no rafting allowed due to the width of the channel.

The Old harbour has water at all states of tide, and I've seen shallow draft boats leaving the entrance at LW. The East Harbour dries, although I had plenty enough water to leave 4 hours before HW.

The price for the night is £23, no matter what size your boat, but you can request to moor along the north wall for a touch over a fiver per night. There is also an overfill mooring area along the wall in the East Harbour, though this does dry.

Showers will cost you a further £1 for five minutes of hot water, and the fascilities are located in the lighthouse building.

Well done with getting sorted. :)

I think you could earn lucrative money writing your own "The Kudu, East Coast, Anti-Clockwise, Pilot Book" - [St Kats to the North West via the Caledonian Canal].
I am sure it will sell? :D :D

Oi! OK if he starts at Lowestoft I suppose...
