Scanner not Responding Message

When testing my Raymarine R 70 it displayed “scanner not responding” after about 10 secs. of loading. Working OK last season. Apart from checking cables for corrosion and that power is reaching the scanner what else should I be looking for? Thanks in advance.

Ours did something similar last year. Turned out the power feed was not working. Bit of a puzzle to find the missing link but a temporary feed, just to test the thing, showed we were on the right track.

My radar is Simrad broadband and gave a similar message at first use after launch last year. I used my entire knowledge of electrickery and “turned it off, waited a while, turned it back on”. Seemed to resolve the problem.

On the odd occasion this has happened to our Raymarine setup (same as the op) we've found that it was down to low battery volts after several days without going anywhere. Once the engines running and putting a bit of charge into the bank, the problem goes away.
