Scandinavian boat builders

I was drooling over a couple of Faurby 36's - they just have the right look about them...

The only problem with them is they fail my " steer from inside" stipulation that any future boat I own must have.

I was was utterly fed up standing - or trying to slump in a heap out of the rain and wind when sailing on the odd (!) bad weather day.
One day, in the bad old pre Hydrovane days, the autopilot cockpit controller got fed up getting wet and packed in so I had a 14 odd hour hand steering trip in the cold and rain to think about my next boat. I decided that I needed a completely sheltered steering position as a spray hood on its own wasn't the answer at 55 degrees north.

Regina do Vindo...if I could afford one. Or a Nordship in my dreams.

While I admire the fin gulfs, malos, HRs etc and seriously considered an Arcona and a FinnGulf ultimatey a Jeanneau production boat fitted my wallet better and I could not justify the extra cost.

To my mind the production boats using modern manufacturing techniques have got better and better and the knockers of boats like the Bavaria have been proved wrong by their longevity and durability on the charter market.

If I had an excess of money I would still be tempted by an Arcona though!
