It's location location location. Agree the DVG doesn't offer 5 star service, facilities nor food. For the boat show it offers a platform to close deals and entertain clients, but only because of it's proximity to the show. Weather last year was spectacular on the closing weekend. As much spending on luxury/leisure products remains locked out, it may not be a good show for exhibitors, but a good social weekend for visitors.

It is true that the De vere is now a 4 star, i believe it changed earlier this year. I would also recommend the Olive Tree on Oxford Street and Banana Wharf in Ocean Village ( also do a buffet breakfast at weekends)

Agreed Olive tree is excellent part from when its really busy when the wheels can sometimes fall off but rather they fall off in a good restaurant.

For rooms you could try White Star in Oxford Street, they have a few rooms and are trying to be a bit of a boutique type hotel, not seen the rooms myself but they are OK for lunch and dinner and like everyone down Oxford Street are having to try a lot harder at the moment.
