sbc\'s boat SuperAnne leaves for Latvia

sbc,s boat has finally left these shores for Latvia. Not by sea, as was intended, but by truck. The following pictures sum up the 'eventful' transfer of boat to truck.

First, fill your boat with as much as you can

Then Lock it up

Get it out of the water clean it off and await truck, flatbed expected. Surprised to see that Superanne does not have wheels on her keels as many forunites thought.

Problem, truck not a flatbed, so get crane

Now lower boat into standard artic trailer

It just fitted, less than 2cm each side

And the truck was just high enough to close the trailer roof

More photos will follow when she gets to Latvia. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is that SBC stowing away, in the last pic, to avoid his ferry fare?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, last seen wandering around Chichester Marina after we'd had a few pints and done a small job on my boat, muttering 'I'm boatless, what do I do now for the next 2/3 days, think I'll go and look round a chandlers'

Re: Leaving for Latvia - ssshhh . . .

Yer missed something! Where's the pic of Nigel having a pint with his forumites in the pub down the road? Weren't Jimbuoy, weeBuoy, Stemar and mlw there too? Or did all our invites get lost in the post?

Surely he wasn't trying to tiptoe away unnoticed? Is that why the (very) small boat forum is off air these days?

But he won't be forgotten: those extra fenders bought in a panic after the admission of being unable to park frontwards OR backwards in the berth right opposite me. And of course extra care slipping round the mudbank clearly visible every tide but passionately embraced by Super Anne for our greater wisdom.

In memorium illegitimae . . .

Steve, it was full, the picture doesn't show the fore cabin, filled to the top, stuff packed round the fuel tank as well, The cupboards full, the quarterberth full of a big cool box with Christmas goodies in. there were two outboards on the floor, which gavwe just enough room to start the main engine to take her round to the lift out. But, that's another story, we had to have her taken round by the workboat. The crane driver reckoned that SuperAnne weighed 3.5 tons, so ther was at least half a ton of goodies on her. Mind you, you're right there usually was /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

One day early unfortunately ....

Thursday morning .... get call from Truckers .... on their way ... Shock - PANIC !!! They were not supposed to arrive till the Friday ....

So out for Turkey ... and all the stuff to pack into ice and cool-box ... ladders etc. etc.

When you see you boat over 8m up in the air .... it makes the heart beat a bit faster ..... still with a boit of shoving and pulling - she went in ....

Oh and I forgot to Invite Chuggin for the send-off .... oh what a calamity .... Missed an "opportunity" there didn't I !!

So she arrives at my house Wednesday am ... and another crane job ... onto blocks ready for Spring ... and new cruising area.

As I'm on GPRS at moment - I don't want to use up mb's uploading piccies so will wait till I get back home Tues. and update the Blog ... update the forum etc.

Re: Leaving for Latvia - ssshhh . . .

I have to admit that your on forum personna is as bad as in real life! You really are an a**ehole. I am no fan of Nigel but he deserves better than the trite you come out with. You may be an ex-teacher and pick everyone up on grammar but you are certainly no human-being. The only time I met you everyone tried to get away from you.... Hence the name "ShoutinAloud"

Ignore him Steve ....

He has no idea of manners or reasonable behaviour .... and he shouts !! I have come to ignore it ...

She\'s arrived ......

Truck with boat on is in holding yard at local ferry port ... awaiting readiness of winter hard area.

All's prepared and all set for 10:00am 29th for the big event. Crane ordered, ground cleared etc.

Will be updating blog anf thread as soon as photies etc. ...

Boy - Xmas comes early !!!!

No doubts !! AND no bl**dy CHuggin in sight !!!!!

It amazes me how we survive without such individuals !!!!

For those interested .......

The "containers" you see to the right of the shot ..... they are additives containers .... for treating fuels ..... Just a comment to re-inforce my position about fuel matters ...
They are empty - why ? Because we inject to ships cargo's in large amounts ... TONNES not odd litres. QED.
