Saturday Solent Windspeeds

Anybody in the Bramble/Newton area on Saturday afternoon.

If so, what windspeed were you experiencing? I reckoned F6 gusting high 7. However, the Bramblemet website tells a different story.

we didn't go out because SWMBO didn't like the forecast - we had plenty of other things to do.

Bramblemet is showing 22knots gusting to 28 at its maximum around 1430, so you were pretty close - about right if you were going upwind, and reading Apparent.

We beat up from Portsmouth with a fairly strong tide under us, arriving off Cowes at about 1330. The highest apparent wind reading we saw was 27kts, once. Most of the time the apparent wind was about 22-23kts with gusts to 25 so I suppose that equates to a true wind of about 18-20kts, gusting about 23kts, less a bit for the tide induced increase. I haven't looked at the Bramble Met site - off there now!

We had 25kts on a beat from portsmouth to osbourne - one gust at 29kts. That was about 1130hrs. We were learning fast at the time!
