Does anybody know what happened to the thames barge aground on Gunard on saturday afternoon. I heard the coastguard calling them without any response.

Also what was happening with a sunsail boat yesterday. Two lifeboats and a tug were on the way and quickly..and they had a serious casulty on baord.

All heard over the radio so just interested in any updates..?

Not sure about the barge. The Sunsail boat was off Gillkicker when one of the crew suffered a head injury. Nurse on board recommended speedy medical help. I think they were picked up after mooring in Portsmouth.

There was another call to SCG from a boat aground off Hurst with a blown sail - didn't hear anymore about them either other than the RNLI were standing by.

We left Cowes about Midday with about 8kts of S wind so put up full sails and pottered off eastwards. After a couple of miles it very suddenly reached 35kts. Er, we were looking a bit messy for a while too as the only crew had never been on a sailyboat before.

Yes, it came in quick all right... we were crane-lifting 40 boats at Emsworth Sat & Sun, all managed without mishap but it was quite fun.

We set off to potter half a mile from our sheltered mooring to Emsworth town quay, hit 28 knots and had more spray across the deck than all summer. And we was 4 miles from the open sea....

Its varnish-scraping, deck-fixing time from now till April.

All the best

Chris

Yeh! It was a bit messy allright!

I was in the middle of fitting a new windlass, cutting MDF in the cockpit for a template, all the b8888y sawdust blew down the companion way! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We went for a sail Sat am & given conditions by late morning decided to turn rt @ bottom of the Hamble & go up Soton Water to Marchwood. Very glad we did, esp after hearing the excitement at Hurst Castle on 16. Even so, we recorded 42 kts in one gust off Netley! On the reach up & back barely 1/3 unfurled Genny only & 6 1/2 kts! Great for last sail of the season (possibly /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
