Sattelite reception in Greece

Reluctantly we have decided to have more than Greek on the TV. Antenna Stores in Levkas has suggested Topfield 5000? and a smartcard to receive BBC, Euronews and some other. The packet priced at euro 350. Admit not much competance in this field. Any help around? "Efharisto"

Maybe you are greedy! I got more than 30 terrestial channels with a set top antenna , admitedly some in Albanian, Italian and French, in Gouvia. As long as I can get the F1 GP [in Greek ] I am happy. The price seems reasonable for a dish and box. Kala Nihkta.

AND...

we get CNN on just a single telescopic antenna with a perfect picture but the reception seems very localised to the marina.

Have you also noticed how many US/UK films there are on "Star"? All with english sound tracks but with Greek subtitles! We watched "Gladiator" on Thursday evening only to find it on UK television last night when we got home. ( the reception of "Swinging Albania Housewives" varies from day to day)

Several people in the marina use the free channels on Astra with very basic set-ups.
