I just had to share this.
After all trials and problems even during the trip from Plymouth, with a woobly engine. Shady Lady will be on her mooring at Starcross this Saturday (subject to missing the first of the seasons hurricanes)

Phew! was it all worth it? Even after making a complete prat of myself with the new engine mounts....thats another story!

Brilliant yipeeeee! & today I even got to polish up the last bits in the cockpit in the sun with a can of amber & looking at her after all the work, sparkling in the evening sunshine, don't you just feel great about your boat whatever she is?

yup its great, a new season in a new yacht.

Fair winds to you all.

Know how you feel. Watched my boat craned in the other day ready for a new season ahead. Best day of the year, worst day is when it comes out again in October.

Have a good season.

Hi Gavin,

Hmmm engine vibes! after taking advice on here, I decided to DIY, how difficult are engine mounts? real easy Huh!
To cut a long boring story short, after fiddling about with loads of spanners, crow bars etc. etc. for two days I could not find anything wrong, but still got a bad vibe.
Eventually called in a really great local engineer (Brixham) and he showed me the problem almost immediately - A sheared holding down bolt, could not have been any more obvious. Anyway ten mins. later all fixed 30 quid.

Red faces all round, I think he was more embarrassed for me....Ho Hum!

Are you in the water, it looks like a really good weekend.

I know that feeling.

Like when all the power in the conservatory went. Checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong, so suspected an horrendous problem like mice chewing power cables behind skirting boards. Consequently just ran an extension lead through from the kitchen. Lived with it for a few months, then eventually Madame gets fed up and calls an electrician who goes straight to a fuse tucked into one of the switch boxes, changes it and hey presto. £50 call out fee for 3 minutes work. Dohh!

Hi Poter

Oh well - at least it's sorted and without costing a fortune for a change!

Yes back in now - had a cracking sail last weekend - had speeds on the log I haven't seen on there before!

Am thinking of heading for Cowes Saturday but bit concerned I may be motoring all the way with the weather forcast being what it is. As it was only a few weeks ago that the engine was sitting in the saloon and I haven't run it for very long since I've not convinced myself it's wise as yet.

Glad you're all sorted - I expect you'll be out and about?

Cheers

Agree entirely. Although I didn't winter my boat out this year, I did have extensive engineering work done and a full hull clean in March and she looks great. Ready for my run along the North Wales coast tomorrow, God and weather willing!

Ah. Osram's laws again.
1) If it doesn't work, switch it on.
2) If it still doesn't work, plug it in.
Fixes 99% of all known electrical problems, except finding the switch.

Mice

Yes, I know that feeling very well.

Kitchen circuit failed: checked switches, checked plugs, checked fuses. Removed skirting boards - blow me, mice HAD chewed through the wires.

Amazing thing was, there was no signs of mice, alive or fried.
