On the rubbing strakes, I just use basic Teak Oil. On the inside finish, B&Q satin finish yacht varnish.

I have recently finished the forward cabin and most of the main cabin. Original finish was a two pack sprayed lacquer/varnish.

I use the same satin varnish on the outside cabin rails.

Inside Ronseal satin, or if you like spending money and extra work, Epifanes rubbed. Outside Sikkens Novatec/top or the latest porous finish from International called Woodskin.

Inside Ronseal satin, ....

I have been sanding down gloss varnish on the inside and applying Ronseal Matt varnish over the sanded gloss. It has come up very well, more satin than flat matt, but not much more: 2 layers on good gloss, 4 where I had to prepare back to bare wood on some panels.

I have used Ronseal Hardwood Furniture Stain, (Clear natural matt) for the last few seasons. The clear stain brings out the colour of the teak, doesn't peel or bubble like varnish. Just a light sand down & re-apply another coat when needed.

It is with great regret that we have to announce that VARNOL will cease production shortly. This is due to Norway no longer producing the base ingredient.
