I need a satellite communication/internet access system.
Additionally I consider to get a shortwave radio.

I am interested in getting hints on reliable good devices and what experiences were made.

I appreciate your helping comments.

I've use an IridiumGO for satellite comms, mainly getting emails. I've also used the Garmin InReach: this gives you the ability to post your track to a personalised webpage, send and receive text messages and social media posts and receive weather forecasts. Cheaper than paying for satellite air time but still not cheap and no voice comms.
However, remember that unless you're talking about spending lots of money on a terminal and air time, you're not really going to get the internet: rather you'll be getting emails, small grib files and the like. And it's slow. Really slow.

I would suggest posting this on the Live aboard forum as there are more users of this equipment there.

You have the choice of HF and Satellite for the comms but you may also want to check out the company Sailmail who provide an email service and software which can operate through HF , Iridium and other satellite systems. Their software compresses the files so reduces comm costs.
