Thanks PY, lovely boat, photos and bathing platform features. Do you have any contacts at Sarnico? Can you find out exactly where the 60 exterior shots in the "rock pool" were photographed? :-)

Possibly a rude question .... but why izzit that very high sterns are so common on Italian performance yachts? Here in the US market designers swoop the lines down low for the stern.

hello Kcook is not rude question
this comes mostly as an old design attitude for big following seas mostly the NW (mistrals or maestrale) when coming from Sardegna in Summer mostly after mid August, is normal to do a Gale Force 7 in this times
so high sterns think for this if u have a problem with an engine and u have to drive slowly
one friend with a not high stern boat with very low to the sea bathing platform had the worst day of his life with all boat shorting and full the water filled aft cockpit with the draining holes not reaching enough for this, hopefully he managed to survive this
an other reason is many naval architect copy the old Itama concept for central position engines for best weight distribution
I think these 2 say it up
JFM I will ask them for that...

"problem with an engine and u have to drive slowly"

Good response. That particular situation did not occur to me.

Thanks PY for asking Sarnico /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Kcook, another reason for high sterns is that all Med is stern-to berthing, and a high stern gives more "arse-presence" and privacy when loafing or dining on the dock

Also, not sure about this one, but nearly all 60foot med boating is crewed, and high aft gives space for a decent crew cabin. I don't know if 60 foot boating in US say is generally crewed
