I sailed in the area. Extremely beautiful, clean waters, good wind, technical sailing (lot of islands and ricks). Concerning Matinas on the first place you should not have problems finding a place as the full season is ending. Very good is Cannigione right at the end of the Cannigione Gulf on Sardinian coast right in front of Caprera island. Excellent shelter should there be no place in the marina you can anchor in the gulf of Cannigione.
If you want to dine you can try the Entro Fuori Bordo restaurant...not bad (adress Lungomare A. Doria n. 8)
A nice place is also La Maddalena port in the Maddalena Island, the town is quite pretty (unlike Cannigione).
Another good marina, although it probably is out of your sailing area, is Santa Teresa di Gallura on the Sardinian Coast at the west end of the Bonifacio Strait.
Good anchorage in la Maddalena Island (and beautiful indeed when not crowded) is Cala Francesi on the west coast of the Island not far from Maddalena port.
For cruising i advice to explore the Spargi, Spargiotto Islands and Budelli all located at the center of the strait with beautiful beaches although anchor at night is suggested only in good weather.
Another good anchorage is on Caprera in front of Cannigione Gulf...there is a wide bay that houses the Cantro Velico Caprera (an equivalent to the French Glenan school of sailing. If I am not mistacken the name of the bay is Porto Palma. Avoid east side as it is a military base for navy commandos.
