Have recently left our boat in Porto Rotondo nr Olbia for the winter. Slight surprise was apparantly no chandlerys in PR. No problem if you want to buy a fur coat but antifouling or chain seems to be a problem! Any recommendations in the Olbia area? Also no travelift at PR. Has anyone used the facilities in Olbia or at Portisco?
We have been in Sardinia since early June and although yachtsman are talking about the tax, there was no sign of it being collected or anyone checking to see if it was being paid. The east and west coast of Sardinia were pretty quiet in August, it was only crowded on the south coast and on the Costa Smeralda in the NE corner. In the Golf of Oristano you can pick up a mooring buoy off the roman ruins at Sines in spectacular surroundings, for free! We were there for 3 nights and there were plenty of spare moorings. Just in case anyone is interested..... Oh and the mooring charges in Porto Rotondo from 1st Sept to 31 May about 2500euros for 14m (and 500euros for 4 nights at the end of August!).

if you can face it go down to marina del sole cagliari. Its v laid back, has a yard, poss you can do your own work, good liveaboard community and town. V V small bar in marina home of all goss and info needed. You can even 'hire' the marina car by the hour. Several v good chandleries too. Check weight of boat for haul out. First impressions are quite funny but its a really cool and fun place

Hi, there is a small chandlery in Olbia in the town. He was helpful and would order if u asked. We found Portisco the most expensive place in Sardina. Currently in Fertilia (Nr Alghero) and like it. Agree chandleries r hard to find in Italy. Brian

Hope you get a reply from HRsailor. We are not wintering with our boat in Sardinia but going out from time to time. Expect most places to be pretty dead, certainly in Porto Rotondo that we beleive will be the case but you may find more life in Alghero/Cagliari. You will certainly get a good deal for the winter.

Where are you in Mallorca? Have you tried Andratx? It is cheap on the town quay, though depending on your size you may need to use your anchor. Nice live abord community, free wifi. Holding is excellent and some of the bigger boats took lines down onto the port authorities chains last winter for extra security. It blew 50 knots from the NE to which the town quay is exposed when we were there but it was fine. Ihave a contact there if you need one.

Hi sorry i've not watched the postings. Fertilia would be fine and safe for wintering but nor much around unless u got to Alghero. We are going out on the 30th Sept. E mail me if u want more info. Brian
