Having turned left to go up the Medway instead of turning the other way due the manky F5 weather ended up going the whole into darkest Kent bit and decided to see just how far my old tub would be able to go up the navigable bit of river.
Removed radar dome and all top hamper and managed to get air draft under the 2.55m maximum and as we were drawing no more than 1 meter downwards was able to get to Golden Green.Only hit bottom once./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
Nice pic of Sarah T at Yalding >Here< .Err and lost my glass,s over the side just after mooring up and taking this picture, another expensive weekend in the making.i had this idea of taking all grub along and eating on boat, the wife had other plans.
Ps The local pub/restuarant here is stuck in a 1950 time warp and the decor/food is circa 1940 boarding school .......blinking horrid.

I took a drive out to Yalding last summer. I think the pub you mean is called The Anchor, just by the weir. Totally agree about the food although it was packed when we went there. Perhaps they were all visitors too, destined never to return again.
I had a short walk way upstream from the pub and there seemed to be some kind of hippy commune in one of the houses backing onto the river. More ammo for your time warp theory.
Were there dozens of kids leaping off the bridge by the pub, into the river?
Nic pic. BTW.

rubbish caffs.

Yes the A****r is a real dump and several future young offenders in waiting were leaping off the weir gates into the pool below.Shame, the whole place really needs bulldozing and and some decent swears-a-lot type chef needs to buy the site and hopefully charge outrageous enough prices to frighten away the lower orders.
Ps While they are at it hopefully blow up some of the nasty caravan sites nearbye./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Very asute of you Fred to have previously removed the front rails to reduce your air draft!

Re: rubbish caffs.

Did go upto yalding meself in the end. Went upto the old disused stoneham lock on sunday and did a spot of fishing. Took a run back on monday went my engine decided it would make a loud bang type noise and lose all oil pressure. It promptly stopped so i had to be towed back to allington. Ho hum, another winter under the engine cover (again)!

Just quesswork as to the lads futures, based on the the number of " F" words per sentence and the amount of litter the scum bags left behind./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif.Still will keep future magistrates in work for years to come.
