Sanremo

Went there four years ago for 10 days holiday. I cannot comment on the marina, as we were on land. But I was very unimpressed. I speak as one who is broadly sympathetic towards Italy and who has been learning the language for c 15 years, so can fit in fairly well,; i.e. no axe to grind. We much preferred inland on the French side of the border, up in the mountains. I certainly wouldn't go back.

I wrote my review from a boaters pov .
OK try this one .
Think St Tropez , Grimaud, Gogolin , St Maxime bay .
Land based St Trop will get rave reviews .
Boater based after a while it’s windy , loadsa of shoals , plenty of markers of rocks to zig zag around , expensive yards , busy .
Mosquitos in Grimaud / Gogolin .On shore facilities in the summer are bombed out .
Nice place to pass through occasionally and visit in a boat but to keep a boat there if uk based = nope .
The onshore traffic to the airport will kill you in the season and you will tire of the number of days winded off stuck in the boiling marinas.
How ever the St Tropez peninsula is no doubt one of , if not THE top SoF destination for summer villa + other land based holidays , the beautiful town , the fab shops , the fab restaurants, the port ambience , the fab beaches esp Pampolone with it’s clubs etc etc .If you are LAND based .
Even the famous Pampolone beach is fraught with on shore rolling waves at anchor , 7ossers on mechanised water toys weaving between the boats , continually an airborne racket of helicopter movements , both to the land based villas and on / off the super yachts .Guys in ribs pestering you “ would you like to come to our club “

Of course a punter sat on shore having a rubbish over priced crappy tourist lunch in one of the many tourist traps , looks out over the white sand , blue sea and eyeballs all theses lovely boats / SY s .
Takes a pic and posts on social media some seedy comment “ look at me in heaven “

Back to the op .
With a cruise over 30 knot Pershing missile and Cote A Azur prices , the French attitude towards Brit boaters , refreshing onshore living prices ( beer , food etc ) San Remo to BASE that fast boat makes perfect sense .

The wind is lower the further E you get FWIW = more time out on the water .Another boaty none land appreciated consideration.

Well, it was just "ordinary" as I recall. Not very exciting beach and not very exciting restaurants. Nothing really bad about it, but a fairly typical Italian town, buzzing with mopeds. I suppose I prefer mountains. Not a lot of history or archaeology nearby, unlike when we were nearer to Rome, at Tivoli.

Try the azimut guys at the end of pontoon F they rent out berths

EDIT: another one that has berths is Permare, you will find it if you walk down past the last pontoon (G) on the right side - walk in the yard and on the left are the Permare offices.
We’ve tried Permare, they don’t have anything long term(12 months)
Called in to Imperia a few weeks ago and it’s a nice small town and we were told the story of why the port is only half finished !

As our next season will be all about travelling the annual birth cost is a big consideration, Sanremo is half the cost of cap Ferrat, Imperia is half the cost of Sanremo !
