sandtex paint

having looked at several old posts recommending the use of sandtex on decks. I just want to check which one is the most slip resistant ultra smooth or the fine textured? Also my boat is painted with the type of paint with sand in not sure which one, will I notice the sandtex paint being more slippery

textured masonry paint. Dulux (Weathershield) is nice, but B&Q is almost the same and cheaper. Lasts for ages, lots of colours.

Definately Textured. I also used Dulux Wethershield, I have found mine to be just as grippy and B&Q can mix virtually any colour. Pick up a colour swatch & choose which suits you best. They mixed up a great colour for me & it's wearing well.

I've used international floor paint, from the DIY stores £27.50 for 2.5 litre it goes on easily touch dry 2hrs walkon overnight, I'm impressed

I used smooth on mine and it's definitely non-slip. Only thing I find is it's difficult to keep clean, dark soled shoes leave scuffs and dirt seems to get ingrained and wont scrub out, 'part from that, tough stuff!

I used smooth as well but agree with above. It works well, but dirt does get ingrained so cream, for example turns a a bit greyish. But looks ok, tough and works well. Very easy to apply and dries quickly.

I used textured standard colour, if you have your own colour mixed it might be hard to match in the future.

Priming before textured paint...

I am interested in doing a trial section over the winter and was wondering what I should prime the GRP before using the DIY textured paint? (Need to remove all current anti slip paint as is coming off in flakes).

It works a treat but do make sure there is no moisture in the air while it dries. I made the mistake of applying on a spring afternoon and it was a very damp night. In the morning it was dry but all the sand was laying on the top and just blew away.
