Anyone have any experience of Sandpoint Maina in Dumbarton? Considering it for yard storage this winter. Seems reasonably priced and has chandlery on site, as well as being closer to home than the alternatives. Good, bad, indifferent?

I have a boat there that I REALLY need to sell!
Sandpoint seem to be happy enough just billing the hardstanding. So I can't report any problems with them.
The chandlery is one of the old fashioned ""I've got a box of those somewhere" kind of places, guy knows his stuff, but is of the "don't suffer fools gladly" school, with a tendency to stop listening to you if you forget the difference between a cheesehead and a roundhead screw or go in with an idea of what you want without specifying the exact size/thickness of penny washer.
I understand there may be a bit of a silting problem in the Leven if your boat is of significant draft. Phone them and check this.

I have been trying to get in touch with them to get a price for wintering as I live in Alexandria which is about three miles away. What sort of price were they talking about if you don't mind me asking?

Went to visit this weekend, the place seems to have had some investment a few years ago - new shed and outside hardstanding with power points, but the majority of the space is gravel and could do with a tidy up. Also something seems to be going on around the point - lots of earth-moving. Quite a few abandoned (?)projects around. The guy assures me that depth should not be a problem in the river - 10ft on a reasonable tide, but I think I will see If I can catch one of the resident owners to confirm this.

As for price, the quote for my 27 footer was £94.50/month +VAT for outside strorage inc. hoists and mast craining. Considerably cheaper than Rhu, a bit more than the yards at Rosneath, but probably worth the saving in travel. Also now discovered that there is a new yard opened up at Rothesay dock in Clydebank which could be worth investigating.

Thanks for the info on the chandlery, I can handle the individual style so long as he is open!

Thanks for the info. I haven't seen anything about prices at 'Yoker' Marina aka Rothesay dock but I have seen the hoist around when passing along Galsgow road. This was supposed to replace Clyde River boatyard at Renfrew when Clydeport sold out to developers a few years back.
