Sandettie question

Heading back tomorrow from Gravelines... chart seems to indicate plenty of water over Sandettie and no strong winds forecast. Any reason not to sail straight across it?

(Never done the return leg from Gravelines before - from here we've always gone on down further into France)

Always gone straight over. Min charted depth is about 5m but never seen anything as low as that. Some disturbed water, like a sane version of the Deben once you've gone over the bar and into the entrance.

We came back in the calm a couple of weeks back and headed straight over the bank with no problems,apart from missing the shipping either side. Love Gravelines

No reason technically, but coming back from there to Rambo, 2 years ago, the waves were big, short and steep, for no apparent reason really, plenty of depth, in a F4. Standing waves can be odd sometimes. I went down channel a bit, and crossed near the lightbuoy, much smoother for some reason.
BTW did you know the Sandettie light buoy info is on the net real time? However the wave height sensor seems unreliable...I cant do a link,sorry, but you can google it, got it here you go.... National Data Buoy Centre:62304
210 degrees, 22 knots, fair enough, but..
Wave height 0.7 feet, really?
