Heading there next week ..crossing over from Turkey and wish to check into Greece there.
Never been there before ,where is best place to go, with regard to checking in etc.?Town harbour or Marina?

Here go,Pythagonion was the place about 4 years ago in town not new marina but things may have changed.

They're only 10 minutes walk apart. Main harbour suffers from surge in some conditions; marina doesn't.

Last year marina expensive and empty. Harbour free/cheap and full, been there a couple of times for about 4weeks did not have any problem with surge some noise from bars etc.

Just been googling the marina,and have come to the same conclusion,I certainly do not wish to spend the sort of dosh they are asking for a wee boat like ours.
The harbour looks good,we will head for it first,we should be there early in the day as it is only a short hop over from Turkey,so should have no prob. Finding a berth...hopefully.We have sailed past the town a few times but never stopped.

The anchorage outside the town is good. We stayed there for several days last year. Occasionally a bit rolly but not at all bad. Short dinghy ride into town. The small supermarket near the front will exchange Camping Gaz bottles.

Was there in June . Nice bird ( MBA accountant / receptionist ) in marina office told me only 3 people running marina as current owners selling it . She and a port captain were in charge plus a boy on a bike to help with mooring . No investment so if it breaks down its not repaired . Got good rate however plus free electricity and water if you can find a point that is working . Nice walk to town 15 minutes . road rough next to sewage plant so take torch at night . Nice restaurants at marina side of town
