Salvaged anchor with free warning about crappy swivels

I stand to be corrected but I was replying to a post from someone who specifically mentioned a Rocna. I don't know how many yachts have been lost but the removal of recommendation, I recall, was not singling out Rocna (as I might have implied). I believe the MC comment was focussed at concave roll bar anchors, which then only included Supreme and Rocna. I believe there was (also) a rather large vessel, on a beach, using a Supreme - I quote a Greek chandler - who did not seem to have an axe to grind.

I hope MC's recommendation are not based on single incidents. If it was one single incident I would have thought CMP/Rocna would have had very strong ground to have that recommendation removed and an apology or clarification issued. MC is simply too influential, in N Am, for them to 'get away' with a removal of recommendation based on one incident.

Based on the tests I did - I would not be complacent.

Based on, unrelated but relevant, current tests (not by me) - I would still not be complacent - you have made your decision.

I anticipate some further results will be available in the next few months

Found another lost anchor (people seem to just leave these things everywhere). This time in Pylos (Navarino bay), again whilst diving our own. Hauled it in the dinghy for the exercise. Weighed 24 kg on the luggage scale. This time no evidence that I can see as to why it might've come loose - no remains of a shackle or swivel. Being a CQR copy, perhaps someone just didn't want it anymore

Up for grabs if you're in the area and need one (or lost yours - it looks like this one hasn't been down there very long).

About ten years ago I tried to give my old CQR away and had no takers. In the end left in by the recycle bins with a sign saying free to good home. It did go but not sure it was taken by a boat owner or the bin men
