Having spent all of last week in the wind and rain of NW Scotland, it's become obvious that a new pair of salopettes are needed to keep the wet out.

Only problem being that the legs on all the pairs I tried in Oban [Gill, Henri Lloyd] finish past where my legs end! Despite the diet of the past few months, I need at least a Large size, but with shorter legs.

Has anybody got any ideas/manufacturers about where a decent pair might be obtained? I know I'm not the only sailor who's the same shape as me!

My present, very old, pair have been perfect and used for skiing/winter climbing as well as sailing. They were made by a companey called Vander but they don't seem to make them anymore.

Musto do salopettes in what they call Medium Broad, exactly the answer for me (similar problem from the sounds of it)!

Surprise, surprise, when I got mine they only did them in HPX and MPX-the two most expensive varieties.

Good luck!

Why don't you buy the ones you want, then get them altered? I'm sure a seamstress could unpick the Zips and velcro and re attach for you. Mind you you might end up with the knee patches on your shins...
