Our smallish saloon table is captive round the 65mm diameter mast support pillar (just screwed on). We'd like to be able to raise and lower it on the pillar. Anyone know of some form of clamp that could be attached to the table or the pillar to enable this? Neither the pillar nor the table can be removed.

there are clamps of this type used for helmsman's seats by firms such as vetus. worth taking a tape measure around the marina or a large chandlery to identify the right model then seeing if you can order a spare clamp.

I don't think the seat-type clamps open fully to put around the mast pillar but I'll check with Vetus. I thought of using a hose clamp but I'd like it to be attached to the table if possible to make it firm and we want to be able to move it up and down simply without resource to a screwdriver. But thanks for the suggestions guys.

I think this calls for a purpose made solution. You should be able to find a small competent engineering firm. The solution (which you will have to develop) could be a split collar with ears to take the clamping screws that tighten it onto the pillar. The screws should have big knurled knobs to avoid use of screwdriver. One side of the collar is attached to the table. Materials - preferably brass possibly alumnium.

Construct a wooden collar to go round the post (assuming it is round) in two parts with the internal diameter just a snug fit.
Take yourself down to your local dive shop and buy a replacement tank strap and buckle for a BCD stab-jacket .
This needs some explanation. The tank on the BCD is held by a webbing strap held under tension by the plastic "flip over" buckle. Put the webbing round the collar and the buckle will tension the whole kit and caboodle onto the post, sufficent to hold the table.
