Salcombe Yawl Y25 - "Curlew", yesterday - would like to congratulate her crew
My elder son and I were sitting on the lawn of the RHYC yesterday around lunch time enjoying a pint as a break from working on a boat and, as one does, commenting on what was to be seen on the river.
Number One Son is a safety boater and a career Merchant Navy officer and he was being less than flattering about the techniques employed by some folks recovering a RIB on the club slipway and managing to block both lanes, with dinghies waiting to launch, when a pale green clinker yawl came barrelling up the river and made a perfectly judged landing on said slipway. The boat was immaculate and immaculately sailed.
