Sailsdirect/Crusader sails

Anyone got any opinions (good or bad) on either sailsdirect or Crusader sails. I'm looking for a 130% jib and a full batten mail for my 40 footer and both have given reasonable quotes - What about quality, service etc?

I did a bit of research before I bought a new genoa and Sails Direct came on top every time. You have to specify exacly what you want, measurements etc. The Sail quality is the same material as most others use. I eventually ordered from them as they only wanted 2 weeks which is what it took. They delivered to my boatyard and I can't fault the sail, stiching is triple instead of double which is better than I have had previously, the cut seems to be good as it sets very well, time will tell how good it really is but I have no complaints yet and it saved me the best part of £200 on a £900 sail. My new main will probably be made by them as well.

Bought a genoa and roller reefing system from Crusader about 3 years ago - largely due to competitive quote and good vibes on the telephone. Despite very careful measurements and drawings from us the system was delivered about a foot too long in the luff. However, to give them their due they sent their fitters down to Devon to correct their mistake and fit it for us foc. The sail also had to be re-cut but once corrected it has been quite satisfactory and we have no complaints. That said we have never bought any other new sail and therefore cannot make comparisons with other (more expensive?) makes.

I'm pleased with our Crusader sails which have done over 20,000 miles including two Atlantic crossings. They were recently described by a local sail maker as "very well made" when I took them in for valetting.

The service was a bit pre-emptory, but they did the job to time and made the adjustments I specified. You can't expect a highly personalised service at the prices they charge.
