Good morning all
I have just signed up as I need some advice. A friend suggested that I try here.
I have a Sailor RT4822 with a fault. The set will only transmit intermittently and a couple of electronic specialists have said the fault lies in the cable between the hand set and the radio. The radio works fine otherwise. A new cable and hand set costs nearly £300.00. I have a couple of spare 2048s complete with hand set and cable. My question is, can the handset ect from the RT2048 be modified to suit the RT4822.
Regards Paul

Sorry for the necro, but please, never ever use WD-40 on electrical equipment - it is not intended for this use and will only do more harm than good. There are dedicated contact cleaners and switch lubricants if you need them, but I doubt they would solve the OP's problem. Sounds more like a poor connection in the handset connector (DB9) or on the PTT switch itself. Open and inspect for broken wires, measure across the PTT switch when engaging it.

Edit: The PTT switch is on pin #5 of the DB9 connector, and ground is on pin #8 - pressing the switch should connect these two.
